Emma
Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson Both lawyers. After moving to Oxfordshire at the age of five, she enrolled in The Dragon School. Emma was six years old when she made the decision to pursue a career as an actress. She trained for several years at Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a Part-time theatre school located in Oxford where she studied acting and singing. At the age of 10 Emma was a participant in a variety of Stagecoach Productions as well as school productions. In 1999 casting began to cast Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was found by agents through their Oxford teacher. After eight continuous auditions, director David Heyman told Emma and co-applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they were selected as the three lead characters Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's first film on the screen was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone made in 2001. It broke all records on the opening weekend and revenues, and it also became one of the top 2001 films. The film was praised by critics and the performances of the three leading young actors. The Daily Telegraph, an important British publication, described Emma's performances "amazing". In the following days, Emma was nominated for five awards for her performance in the film, winning her the Young Artist Award for Leading Young Actress in an Feature Film.
