Maggie Grace is an American actor who was born Margaret Grace Denig in 1983. Her best-known roles include Shannon Rutherford, a character on ABC's Lost series as well as Kim Mills from the Taken trilogy. Maggie Grace, originally from Worthington in Ohio, dropped out of high school in order to move to Los Angeles after her divorced parents. In the midst of financial hardship, she got her first part as the title character in the video on-demand show Rachel's Room in the year 2001. In 2002, she was awarded an Young Artist Award in 2002 for her performance of Murder In Greenwich of a 15-year old Martha Moxley as a murder victim, Grace went on to be awarded. In 2004, Grace was selected to portray Shannon Rutherford in the television series Lost in which she was the main character for the initial two seasons, and was awarded an award called the Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the cast of the ensemble. Grace was forced to quit the show in order to focus on her professional film work. She had appeared alongside Tom Welling opposite in The Fog earlier in the year 2005. Grace has been as Kim Mills in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club both in 2007 and Taken with Liam Neeson in 2008 as Kim Mills. The same character was played by Grace on Taken 2 and Taken 3 (both in 2012). Grace returned to the character of Shannon in two episodes of Lost including the series finale. Grace appeared in Californication's 6th season, which aired between 2013 and 2014. She plays Faith as a groupie, and also her muse to the stars who captures the attention of Hank Moody played by David Duchovny. Being part of the Gyllenhaal Family, she's the younger sister to the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. She began her career in the teen years with minor roles in several of her father's films and appeared together with her brother in cult favorite Donnie Darko (2001). She also appeared as a character on Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. Also, she appeared on Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal's lead roles in Secretary, an erotico-romantic comedy, as well as Sherrybaby (a drama) have earned her nominations to the Golden Globe Award. In 2006, she appeared in a number of commercially successful movies including World Trade Center. However, it was her role in the role of Rachel Dawes that brought her greater attention for her performance in The Dark Knight (2008). In recognition of her role as an unmarried mother in Crazy Heart (2009) she received a nomination for Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Gyllenhaal's first film as a writer and director took place in 2021, with The Lost Daughter, a psychological thriller that won her the Venice International Film Festival Best Screenplay Award. The film also was awarded the Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.
